Always hearing great stuff from you man. I'm not really the one for long detailed reviews but I can sure tell you have huge potential in film/media composing! The music for the animation fit pretty nicely for a first time attempt at this kind of stuff!

Mattashi responds:

Thanks man! I'm not that great either at writing detailed reviews but I appreciate any review!

Nice progression! What string and choir libraries did you use? They're really great! Also is this part of a game/film as you seem to have split this into Act I and Act II?

Others have pointed out that it does have a very Arabian and ancient feel to it with the choir added to it. But it also does have a very modern feel. I can see this being used in literally any situation which involves suspense or has tension build up.

LunyAlex responds:

Thanks a lot for the review!
The strings are mostly LA Scoring Strings with a pinch of Spitfire Albion 1 (violins), and the choir is Rhodope: Ethnic Bulgarian Choir.

And sadly no, not part of a game or film, hah (*whispers*: I wish), but I like to contextualize/structure most of my songs as if they were. Maybe a bit pretentious, but it helps me keep focus.

Thanks again!

That sub bass was perhaps a bit too loud. Might need to use a high pass filter on the kick so that it doesn't interfere with the sub sonic energy of the sub bass. Or you can try pitch shift the kick to the sub bass because otherwise you're going to have phase issues in the low end causing muddiness. I would have pushed the snare/clap a little more in the background with some reverb or light delay, but thats just me. Otherwise, interesting sounds used in this song... Very experimental. Good stuff.

SoTJake responds:

Thank you for your response. Yeah, the kicks gave me a hard time in this track. I did not think about a high pass filter, I will remember this the next time. Also on the claps I already had a reverb but maybe it was too subtle, but you are right, they could be more in the background. I am constantly learning:)
Thanks again for your response, much appreciated.

Wonderful demo reel.

Big. Powerful. Epic.

DavidOrr responds:

Thank you!

That boredom was justified. What synths do you use?

This is stunning. I can see this playing in a documentary.

SoundChris responds:

Thanks DL2Electron! Glad you liked it :D

Nice loop.

I felt a bit put off during that tempo increase, but otherwise this song was pretty nicely mixed and arranged for an experimental song. Nice work.

Blacklawn responds:

People seem to dislike the tempo thing, so I'll remove it.

lmfao that autotune part was hilarious

This sounds pretty badass! Well, don't know about you but I thought it was mixed pretty well and the arrangement flowed perfectly. Perhaps I would make some of the synth melodies a but more stereo but thats just me because the way you composed this song is only unique to your style. Certain sections of the song would be perfect for a thriller / espionage / action sequences in a game!

Lich responds:

From the sheer amount playing within the track I did have to run a pretty big operation regarding Stereo imaging for alot of elements within the track like the Drum Kicks being shoved to the side and alot of the Synth leads and arp's being glued more towards the middle. I think I overdone it abit though (oops!), thanks for letting me know!

Glad you enjoyed the track!

what is music theory?
